A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
Ogi and Caerphilly County Borough Council have partnered to bring fibre to the Tredomen Business and Technology Park, which is home to around 30 local businesses.
Through the deal Ogi has completed the install of a new full fibre business network on the site leveraging its £5m network build in nearby Hengoed.
Part of the local authority’s plans to make the Ystrad Mynach site a green energy hub, Ogi’s passive network uses less energy than traditional copper networks.
Ogi’s Director of Business Sales, Andy Dow, said: “Business Parks like Tredomen are economically important to their regions, and it’s only right they have the same access to good connectivity as places like Cardiff and Newport.
“As more of us look to work closer to home, innovation can happen anywhere, and it’s important we invest in the foundations, the infrastructure that’s needed, to help these companies grow at scale.”
