Openreach is continuing to expand its full fibre network to help homes and businesses in Brighton access more reliable broadband.
Openreach has started work to build a new broadband network for Wokingham giving residents a high-speed upgrade.
Engineers have begun the build which is expected to reach most local homes and businesses in the next six months, enabling access to gigabit-capable speeds.
Full Fibre networks in other areas of Berkshire, including Bracknell and Ascot, are among those in the county being extended to reach more homes and businesses.
Local people can visit the Openreach website to register for updates and, as the build progresses, check their addresses to see when services are available from their chosen provider.
Martin Williams, Openreach Partnership Director, said: “We’re bringing ultrafast broadband to Wokingham and letting local people know what to expect.
“This is a major infrastructure upgrade, so there will be more engineering teams, equipment and vans around town, and wherever possible, we’ll use our existing network of ducts and poles to avoid major disruption.”
Openreach’s new Full Fibre network in Berkshire now reaches more than 175,000 properties, and the company plans to roll out the new technology to 25 million homes and businesses by the end of 2026, with an ambition to reach up to 30 million by the end of the decade.
