Openreach will address thousands more premises in Angus and Dundee as it kicks off work to build a new network for Arbroath.
Engineers have started work in the town and the build is expected to reach most local homes and businesses. Work is also commencing in Forfar, Monifieth, Broughty Ferry and eastern Dundee.
Across Dundee and Angus, around 30,000 households and businesses are now passed by Openreach.
Robert Thorburn, Openreach Partnership Director for Scotland, said: “Arbroath is part of our balanced build across Scotland.
“We want to make sure that progress is evenly spread and that people in all parts of the country can be online and build opportunities in their community.”
Openreach’s new ultrafast full fibre network in Scotland now reaches 1.2m plus properties, and the company plans to roll out the new technology to 25 million homes and businesses by the end of 2026.
