AllPoints Fibre Networks has agreed a new multi-million-pound partnership with BT Wholesale as it continues to expand the reach of its full fibre broadband offering.
Openreach will launch two new speed tiers across the entirety of its full fibre network, available to its network of communication providers from April 1st.
The two new tiers bring download speeds of 1.2Gbps and 1.8Gbps and both offer upload speeds of 120Mbps. For this, providers will be required to supply more capable routers.
Openreach states that the current pilot for both new tiers “have performed exceptionally well with early adopter EE’s test results showing consistently solid performance.”
Openreach Product Manager Matthew Sledge said: “New end customers will have a new fibre Optical Network Terminal and customer with an existing fibre service can upgrade to the new speed tiers via a ‘box-swap’.
“We’ve made sure these new speeds can provide the biggest benefit and are available to all 13 million homes and businesses that can access our full fibre network.”
