A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
People in the Fishwick and Frenchwood area of Preston are set for a broadband boost as CityFibre’s £30m investment in the city progresses at pace.
The infrastructure builder has designated premises in the area as ‘ready for service’, with offerings currently available from Air Broadband.
Preston homes in areas of Ribbleton have also been made ready for service and work is underway in the St. Matthews and City Centre wards.
City Manager Steve Thorpe said: “We are now looking to expand our horizons and offer more people in the area the opportunity to connect to our network.”
Telent is delivering the construction programme on CityFibre’s behalf with a workforce that has been recruited locally.
CityFibre’s aim is for the build to be substantially completed by 2024.
