A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
Quickline’s fibre network is now live in Hibaldstow, Lincolnshire, and the company has sponsored the village hall as part of its ‘Q Hub’ Scheme.
This marks the first of several community hubs across the altnet’s network to be connected in the coming months.
The investment includes the provision of a laptop, printer, microphone, VR headset and PlayStation 5 and will reduce the hall’s its running costs through remote heating.
Colin Mawdsley, Secretary of the Village Hall Committee, said: “When people think of village halls, it generally conjures up images of jumble sales and bingo nights.
“The Village Hall Committee at Hibaldstow wants to change that perception here and modernise through a fast, reliable connection to the internet.”
Quickline’s Head of Enablement and Engagement, Julian Chalk, added: “The creation of our first Q Hub, demonstrates our long-term commitment to support the communities we serve.”
