CityFibre has begun work to connect more than 45,000 homes and businesses across areas of Leicestershire and Warwickshire to full fibre thanks to an award of £77m as part of Project Gigabit.
Quickline is boosting connectivity across West Yorkshire, with 600 premises now accessing full-fibre broadband thanks to the government’s Project Gigabit funding.
Rural communities in villages like Streethouse and New Sharlston, near Wakefield, and Emley and Upper Cumberworth, near Huddersfield can now access reliable full-fibre and get online.
Another 1,100 premises have gained access through Quickline’s commercial build, with further connectivity planned in the coming weeks and months.
The rollout is delivering high-speed broadband to communities that were previously underserved.
The communities are part of the government’s ProjectGigabit with these locations included in the contract covering West Yorkshire and the York Area, awarded to Quickline in February this year.
More than 28,000 hard-to-reach rural homes and businesses in the West Yorkshire and York area will ultimately benefit from the government’s UK-wide programme.
Quickline is also investing further to extend its full fibre network to an additional 58,000 premises across the region.
Julian Chalk, Head of Network Engagement and Enablement at Quickline, said: “Our goal is to make an impact quickly, connect these areas as soon as possible and make a meaningful impact to those living and working there.”
