A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
Keir Mather MP recently met up with Openreach engineers building fibre in his constituency.
He was given a tour starting with a visit to the local telephone exchange for a lesson in splicing, before driving to a housing estate to see the final stage of the network.
He said: “This is a significant local investment and great news for people living and working here in Selby and elsewhere in North Yorkshire in both our urban and rural communities.
Openreach’s network has so far connected more than 120,000 properties across North Yorkshire through an investment of £36m.
