A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
GoFibre is connecting 8,000 local households and businesses across Burntisland and Cardenden in Fife to fibre, with work on two networks set to be complete later this year.
The company is aiming to connect 500,000 homes over the next three years and will create over 200 new jobs across Scotland and northern England following a £174m investment boost from Gresham House.
GoFibre is working in largely rural areas, serving communities often considered forgotten by larger providers.
Alex Cacciamani, GoFibre’s CEO, said: “It’s important for our shared future that we eliminate the digital divide across Scotland. Doing so will enable us all to reach our full potential, facilitating business growth and innovation as well as benefiting local communities.
“We would like to thank everyone for their ongoing patience during the construction phase.”
