The Broadband Forum’s Fibre Access Network (FAN) Work Area has launched a project that will introduce energy-saving requirements for the industry to adhere to.
Virgin Media O2 has become the first telecoms provider to achieve Carbon Trust certification for its action towards net zero emissions
The provider is one of only three businesses in the country to have received the Advancing tier of the certification.
The Carbon Trust has recognised VMO2 for reducing its Scope one and two carbon footprints and its plan to achieve net zero across its operations, products, and supply chain by the end of 2040.
Dana Haidan, Chief Sustainability Officer at VMO2, said: “While this is an important step in our journey to become net zero, we know the climate crisis demands urgent action.
“By using our gigabit broadband and 5G mobile networks, we will power sustainable tech across the country to support communities and businesses, and help people to lead greener and more connected lives.”
