Steve Leighton has been appointed as the new Chair of ISPA Council, taking over the reins from Andrew Glover.
Leighton has been CEO of Voneus for more than a decade and has held management positions at several other ISPs and tech businesses over the past twenty years.
Prior to entering the private sector, he worked in government, including a stint as the Head of Communications Sponsorship at the Department of Trade and Industry, giving him an insight into the regulatory challenges facing the UK’s telecoms sector.
Leighton said: “ISPA will continue to support members to set the agenda, engage with policymakers, bring the industry together for events and make a difference to members.”
Glover hands over after more than five years as Chair, a period coving the significant acceleration of full fibre rollout, the implementation of legislation to remove barriers to rollout broadband, new cyber security requirements and a new regulatory settlement from Ofcom.
Most recently, Glover represented ISPA during a roundtable at Downing Street, speaking of the work ISPA members are doing to support individuals during the cost of living crisis.
He said: “With the increasing demands on the broadband sector, ISPA’s role is more important than ever. I will continue to serve and support Steve.”
