A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
CityFibre is set to invest more than £14m in a new town-wide network that will bring fibre in reach of almost every home and business in Wellingborough.
Construction work on the full fibre network in Wellingborough is planned to begin in October this year.
“Our full fibre network will transform Wellingborough’s digital capabilities for decades to come,” said James Cushing, Area Manager for CityFibre.
Cllr David Howes, North Northamptonshire Council’s Executive Member for Rural Communities and Localism, added: ““Full fibre connectivity is increasingly important for business success and innovation, for improving the quality of life of our residents, and enabling environmental benefits.”
“Strong commercial investment in our area is critical to boost full fibre coverage. This is already reaping rewards, with coverage jumping from 19% in August 2021 to over 35% in August 2022.”
Services will be available from Vodafone, TalkTalk, IDNet, Giganet and Zen with other providers expected to join the network soon.
