A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
Freedom Fibre has deviated from its typical footprint in Cheshire, Greater Manchester and Shropshire, and has begun rolling out a £14m network in Wrexham.
As the network rollout progresses, each neighbourhood will be released in stages as soon as they are ’ready for service’, and the first homes are expected to be able to connect to the network this winter.
Members of Wrexham Council met with the Freedom Fibre team to welcome the build.
Cllr Mark Pritchard, Leader of the Council, said: “This investment in Wrexham’s digital infrastructure creates a network that future-proofs Wrexham city centre and the whole county borough.”
Marie Danby, Customer Operations Director at Freedom Fibre, added: “Our network rollout is designed to cause minimal disruption - using existing infrastructure wherever possible. Any short-term disruption will pay off in the long-term.”
