Wessex Internet has connected its first customer in South Wiltshire as part of an £18.8 million contract awarded by Project Gigabit, bringing faster broadband to around 14,500 residents across the region.
YouFibre has connected its first customer in Scotland with its East Kilbride network becoming commercially available.
The altnet recently announced that it had reached 5,000th customers on its network which runs on full fibre broadband network operators, such as Netomnia.
Ryan Battle, MD of YouFibre, said: “Our internet speeds in East Kilbride will ensure households and business broadband users will be able to do just about anything they want online no matter the time of day, whilst also being able to stream in ultra-HD across multiple devices at once.”
