Virgin Media O2 Business has been appointed to build a dedicated dark fibre network to 36 public sector sites throughout Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
The Zayo Group has completed its dark fibre network at Proximity’s regional edge colocation data centre in Chester Gates near Manchester.
This will allow service providers to offer a range of low-latency services to businesses located in the north west of England
Zayo is offering dark fibre, Ethernet, wavelengths and IP as well as provisioning low latency circuits from Proximity Edge 4 to data centre hubs in Manchester, Dublin and the USA.
Additionally, it is nearing completion of a new dark fibre network connection at Proximity’s Nottingham edge data centre.
John Hall, MD – Colocation, Proximity, said: “This is in line with our strategy of enabling our sites to function as secure interconnected regional communications hubs for the benefit of our customers.”
Andrew Tipping, Business Development for UK, Zayo Europe said: “Proximity’s edge data centres enable us to address growing demand from businesses and service providers for more network capacity in key regional areas.”
