Around 235 homes and businesses in the village of Charlton, near Evesham, can now access fibre through the Project Gigabit Voucher Scheme.

Openreach engineers and Worcestershire County Council have collaborated on the project with the council providing top-up funding to make it possible.

Nigel Huddleston, the MP for mid-Worcestershire, said: “Being such a rural constituency, I know just how many of my constituents will benefit from full fibre broadband. This could not be truer for residents of communities like Charlton.”

Martin Williams, Openreach’s Regional Director, added: “From the outset, this community really wanted fibre broadband and they rallied together to make it happen.”

Openreach’s network across Worcestershire currently addresses. 120,000 homes and businesses.
