Wildanet and Dynamic Fibre are pioneering a fibre-optic cable-laying process in Cornwall which will reduce the carbon footprint of street works in the county.
Altnets has launched FTTXcellence B2ca MDU (Multi-Dwelling Unit) System designed to streamline fibre optic installations in multi-dwelling units across the UK.
Following a recent discussion with the Internet Service Providers' Association (ISPA), major challenges were highlighted that ISPs are facing when installing fibre into MDUs.
The discussion shed light on issues that limit connectivity: the diversity of building structures, compliance with safety regulations, and the need for improved stakeholder engagement.
The key takeaway from the discussion was that standardisation and collaboration are the two biggest factors in overcoming these challenges.
The FTTXcellence B2ca MDU System, a fully compliant and standardised solution, will help ISPs meet the complex engineering and compliance challenges of delivering high-speed broadband including installation fixings, through-wall kits, and a choice of adapters.
Leigh Buckwell, Technical Director at Altnets, explained: "Our FTTXcellence B2ca MDU System is directly addresses these challenges by simplifying installation while ensuring ISPs meet stringent safety regulations.
“This includes CPR compliance as required by the BS6701 andBS7671 standards, which mandate the fire performance of telecommunications cables.”
He continued: “The system enhances the success of MDU builds and improves the return on investment for ISPs."
Stuart Russell, SeniorMDU Delivery Manager at G Network, added: “The FTTXcellence B2ca MDU range allows us to deploy our service with full confidence around performance and safety.
“The fair price point also allows us to be more strategic with our build programme, opening up new opportunities for both us and our partners.”
