The number of homes able to get gigabit-capable broadband is up to 24.0 million (80% of all UK homes), according to Ofcom’s Connected Nations Spring 2024 update. This is up 78%, from 23.2 million since its update in September 2023.
CityFibre’s nationwide full fibre network now passes over three million premises with more than 2.6 million ready for service to ISPs.
The provider hit the two million milestone in September 2022 and is on course to deliver a million ready for service premises to ISPs by the end of this year, matching last year’s performance.
In its most mature locations, such as Milton Keynes, ISP partners are now approaching 30% take-up.
Earlier this year CityFibre secured four Project Gigabit contract awards, totalling £387m in government subsidies to reach 262,000 homes.
This has been supported by nearly £223m of committed private investment from CityFibre.
CEO Greg Mesch said: “With an infrastructure project of this size, we have successfully adapted as the market has changed and will continue to fine-tune our rollout in order to meet our targets moving forward.”
