A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.

Openreach is now available to 30% of homes and businesses in the Dover exchange area and 15,000 premises on Isle of Wight.
The Dover build, being delivered with build partner MTS is expected to reach most local homes and businesses over the next 12-24 months.
Kieran Wines, Regional Partnership Director for Openreach, said: “Dover is part of our balanced build across the south east, which includes more than 200 rural towns and villages.”
Openreach has invested more than £4.5m in building its network on the Isle of Wight and so far, reaching more than 15,000 properties.
However, just 21 per cent of those who could upgrade have done so, and Openreach is urging locals to upgrade as it continues the build.
Jemma Smith, who leads Openreach’s Isle of Wight team, said: “Having local engineers, with their knowledge of the hotspots and the network, is great. Some of the engineers have been working 20 years, 35 years – their knowledge is valuable.”
