A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
Openreach’s MD for Strategic Infrastructure and Development, Kim Mears OBE, will retire from the role in March. Katie Milligan will widen her remit to become Chief Commercial Officer.
Mears joined Openreach in 2006 and has been a member of the Openreach leadership team for the last ten years. Her services to the comms industry saw her awarded an OBE in 2020. She will remain in the capacity of Executive adviser and Chair of Welsh Board.
Milligan will now expand her role to include Infrastructure Development, working closely with housebuilders, local and national governments to deliver commercial and publicly subsidised projects.
She already leads Openreach’s commercial relationships with customers including BT, SKY, TalkTalk, Vodafone and Zen, and is accountable for the company's revenue. She also continues to steer the business’ delivery in Northern Ireland.
