JSM Group has been granted Ofcom Code Powers to improve its client offering by simplifying processes, particularly for power cable trenching and infrastructure projects.
Ofcom has opened consultations for proposals to apply Code powers to both Smartfbre Broadband and NIO Net.
Smartfibre first submitted its proposal on 17th April, having already built out its fibre network in south east England.
The provider seeks to expand into new regions and plans to make its infrastructure accessible to other providers.
NIO Net is seeking code powers to build and operate a fibre and fixed wireless access hybrid network for the purpose of wholesaling connectivity to consumer and retail telecommunications and other markets, including future government projects such as the Gigabit Voucher and Rural Connectivity initiatives.
It first applied on May 11th to facilitate the building of its hybrid network initially in the south and south east of England before expanding to the rest of England, Scotland and Wales.
Both are looking for code powers that cover the entire UK. Consultation periods for both will end on July 3rd.
