A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
A wayleave agreement between CityFibre and Newark and Sherwood District Council will bring fibre access to more than 500 additional households.
The agreement provides permission for the required groundworks and installations to be completed.
Bashir Ahmed, CityFibre’s Partnership Manager for Newark, said: “This agreement will make a genuine difference to thousands of people living in council housing in Newark, giving them access to transformative technology.”
Councillor Matthew Spoors, Portfolio Holder for Sustainable Economic Development at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “We’re keen to see full fibre connectivity in every home and business in Newark to strengthen and secure the future digital economic development of the area.”
In Newark, CityFibre’s network will be accessible through Vodafone, TalkTalk, Giganet, IDNet and Zen.
