GoFibre is celebrating a major milestone in Montrose with more than 1,000 customers now enjoying ultra-fast full fibre broadband, and to mark the occasion, the company will be teaming up with local ice cream shop, Scoops of Moo, for a special community event on 17th May.

WightFibre’s latest milestone announcement sees services available to 40,000 premises, signalling the Gigabit Island Project’s halfway mark, with a total of 460km of trenches dug to date.
Most of the homes in Sandown and Shanklin are ready for service and Ventnor, Lake, Nettlestone and Seaview are receiving fibre availability for the first time.
Cables have also been laid to a further 10,000 homes with services scheduled to become available over the summer.
WightFibre expects service to be available to 60,000 premises by the end of the year and to 75,000 homes by the end of 2023 with an ultimate target of around 80,000 premises.
John Irvine (pictured), CEO of WightFibre, said: “We expect the network build across the Island to be largely complete by the end of 2023, providing fast reliable broadband that just works.”
WightFibre is live in Cowes, East Cowes, Newport, Wootton, Ryde, Lake, Nettlestone, Seaview, Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor and is about to go live in Freshwater and Yarmouth on the west of the Island. Work is ongoing in St Helens, Bembridge, Brading and numerous other towns and villages across the Island.
