Quickline is boosting connectivity across West Yorkshire, with 600 premises accessing full-fibre broadband thanks to the government’s Project Gigabit funding.
GoFibre has completed its full fibre network build in the Borders area, enabling over 25,000 homes and businesses to access high-quality internet.
To mark this achievement, John Lamont MP visited the Galashiels Transport Interchange to discuss the successful broadband connection for Borders Buses, a key regional transport player.
With more than 500 business customers now connected to the network, including Borders Buses, the visit highlighted the importance of reliable internet for local companies.
Operating extensively across the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland, Borders Buses not only serves essential routes to Carlisle, Berwick and Wooler, but also works closely with Scottish Borders Council to serve vital school transport services to local children.
Lamont met with Borders Buses Operations and Systems Supervisor, Paul Borthwick, to hear how connection to the full fibre broadband network has boosted operations and capabilities.
Borthwick said: “GoFibre has completely transformed our connectivity, providing us with reliable connections that have made our business operations more efficient.
“We can’t wait to extend this service to our transport exchange to further boost our operational efficiency.”
Lamont said: "It’s inspiring to see how a reliable broadband connection can transform a business. Borders Buses is an example of how modern infrastructure can improve service delivery, benefitting both the company and the public.”
Sam Calvert, Chief Revenue Officer at GoFibre, said: “This partnership with Borders Buses illustrates how robust digital infrastructure can transform everyday operations.”
