Openreach has begun work to build a new network for Grimsby and Healing, with the build expected to reach most premises over the next 12-18 months. More than 7,500 homes and businesses can already access the new technology.
Matthew Lovegrove, Openreach Partnership Manager for Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “This is part of our balanced build across Northern Lincs which includes rural towns and villages as well as urban areas.
We want to make sure that progress is evenly spread and that people in all parts of the area can be online and build opportunities in their community.”
Openreach’s network in Northern Lincs currently reaches around 37,00 properties, and the company plans to address 25 million homes and businesses by the end of 2026.
Thousands of residents in Scunthorpe and Winterton already have access and investment is planned in other local locations such as Barrow on Humber, Crowle, Haxey, Killingholme, Kirton Lindsey and Wooton.
