Openreach is progressing its Aberdeenshire network build to connect thousands of homes and businesses across Huntly, Macduff and Banff, with the aid of build partner MTS.
Openreach engineers have started work to build a new ultrafast broadband network for Gatley.
Once complete, the network will make 2,000 homes and businesses ready for service.
Dane Packer, Openreach Senior Engineering Manager, said: “Wherever possible, we’ll use our existing network of ducts and poles to avoid roadworks, new street furniture and disturbance.
“There may be places where we need to install new poles or underground ducts because it’s the only way to make sure as many premises as possible are included in the upgrade.”
Openreach’s full fibre network across the Stockport area now reaches more than 77,000 premises, with wider investment also planned in Stepping Hill.
