Wessex Internet has connected its first customer in South Wiltshire as part of an £18.8 million contract awarded by Project Gigabit, bringing faster broadband to around 14,500 residents across the region.
Thousands of premises in Harrogate and Knaresborough can now connect to CityFibre’s £46m fibre network.
The provider has made homes in the Bilton, Woodlands, Rossett Green, Pannal, Valley Gardens and New Park areas of the towns ready for service.
In Harrogate and Knaresborough, customers can access services via Vodafone, TalkTalk, Giganet, Zen and others.
The rollout in Harrogate is due to reach completion later this year as the rollout progresses into new areas in Ripon.
Area Manager Kim Johnston said: “Digital infrastructure has become the cornerstone of modern day-life, and the people we have spoken to say they are already reaping the benefits of lightning fast and more reliable broadband.”
Construction is being delivered by Makehappen which is working in close partnership with NYCC and local communities.
