A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.

Openreach has connected 48 local premises in Lea Heath, east of Stafford following the creation of a Fibre Community Partnership supported by the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme.
One beneficiary is a local leaflet distribution business owned by Chris and Louise Sanders, who led the Fibre Community Partnership.
Chris Sanders said: “This is a rural hamlet with older residents who are now getting to grips with the technology. They’re making video calls to family and friends which they weren’t before and we’re not on a bus route, so this is ever more important.
“We’re also aware one of the farmers checks on his cattle using streamed CCTV, so it’s really helped his business.”
Over 100,000 premises across Staffordshire now have access to full fibre through Openreach’s network.
Kasam Hussain, Partnership Director for the Midlands, said: " Openreach has worked closely with the county council, and the local community, to make full fibre a reality.”
